Dhammika Perera, a billionaire businessman and Member of Parliament, has expressed his readiness to contest the upcoming Presidential Election under the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) if the party decides to nominate him as their candidate. His statement came during an event where he attended the inauguration of SLPP’s centre for professionals, alongside SLPP National Organiser MP Namal Rajapaksa.
Perera emphasized his focus on economic development, stating that he is currently formulating an economic program aimed at improving the country’s economy. He highlighted the importance of presenting a clear plan for economic development to earn the confidence of the population, especially with the election nearing.
Additionally, Perera discussed his ‘DP Education’ platform, which aims to enhance the education sector by introducing smart classrooms in all 10,000 schools across Sri Lanka. He expressed confidence in his ability to present a comprehensive economic development program within 60 days, aiming to persuade undecided voters to support his candidacy.
His remarks indicate a proactive stance towards participating in the election if nominated by SLPP, focusing on economic reform and education as key pillars of his potential presidential campaign.
