(COLOMBO) – One person was stabbed to death and five others injured in a bloody brawl at an open venue musical show in Southern Sri Lanka on Friday night, police said.
The incident took place in Weeraketiya located some 206 kilometers from the commercial capital of Colombo.
The brawl broke out between the organizers of the event and a group of youth that had harassed a vendor at the venue.
Such brawls are common in Sri Lanka with many youth intoxicated with alcohol and narcotics and security at such events are extremely limited.
The injured persons were treated for minor cuts at a local hospital and later released.
