Mr. Anura Kumara Dissanayake, leader of Sri Lanka’s National People’s Force, held a significant meeting with Mr. Tsuge Yoshifumi, Japan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs today (22) in the afternoon. The meeting was a platform to address key issues concerning Sri Lanka’s current economic and political situation, and to discuss the future of diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.
During the discussion, special emphasis was placed on the forthcoming presidential election in Sri Lanka. The Japanese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs extended his congratulations to Mr. Dissanayake on his visit to Japan and acknowledged the ongoing and historical friendship between the two nations.
The meeting was attended by a delegation that included Mr. Tsutsumi Taro, Director of the Southwest Asian Division of the Department of Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs, and Mr. Iwase Kiichiro, Deputy Director of the same division. Several members of the Japan Committee of the National People’s Force were also present, contributing to a robust exchange on bilateral relations and future cooperation.
