July 23, 2024 — The Colombo District Court has deferred its decision on whether to suspend the ruling on MP Dayasiri Jayasekara’s plaint until tomorrow, July 24. This decision follows the court’s consideration of a request by Lasantha Alagiyawanna to intervene in the case.
Today’s court session addressed Jayasekara’s complaint against the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), challenging the party’s decision to expel him as General Secretary. The complaint also contests a letter from the party’s former chairman, Maithripala Sirisena, which required Jayasekara to justify himself in response to a disciplinary inquiry.
