- India’s Tour Of Sri Lanka 2024 (2nd T20)
In a dramatic rain-affected encounter, India sealed the T20 series against Sri Lanka with a decisive 7 wicket victory. India successfully chased down a revised target of 78 runs in just 7 overs.
Sri Lanka’s innings got off to a promising start despite an initial 45-minute delay due to drizzle and a wet outfield. From a strong position at 130/2 in 15 overs, Sri Lanka lost seven wickets for just 31 runs, ending their innings at 161/9.
Ravi Bishnoi was the standout bowler for India, claiming 3 wickets for 26 runs in his 3 overs. Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh also troubled the hosts by taking 2 wickets each to see off the Lions. India’s chase was interrupted by rain after just 3 balls, with the score at 6/0.
The target was subsequently revised to 78 runs in 8 overs, setting up a challenging yet achievable task for the visitors. Despite the early loss of Sanju Samson for a golden duck, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suryakumar Yadav came out swinging. Jaiswal smashed a quickfire 30, while Yadav contributed a rapid 26 off just 12 balls. With the platform set, Hardik Pandya provided the finishing touches, scoring an unbeaten 22 runs off 8 balls.
India comfortably reached the target, finishing at 83/3 in 6.3 overs. Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana, and Wanindu Hasaranga each picked up a wicket for Sri Lanka, but their efforts were in vain as India raced to victory.
As India celebrates their series win, they look forward to continuing their strong form in the final game, while Sri Lanka aims to salvage some pride and learn from their mistakes.
