The US continues to lead in total medals, with 15 after adding four more to their count on the fourth night. Among these were two medals in the women’s 100 backstroke: Regan Smith took silver, and Katharine Berkoff claimed bronze.
Great Britain achieved its first gold of the meet when the men’s team defended their title in the 4×200 freestyle relay, concluding the night’s events with a notable victory.
Ireland made significant progress in the medal standings as Daniel Wiffen earned the country’s third Olympic medal in history and its first-ever on the men’s side. This follows Mona McSharry’s bronze in the women’s 100 breaststroke the previous night, showcasing Ireland’s growing presence in the swimming arena.
