The Government of India has formally lodged a protest with the Government of Sri Lanka following a recent maritime incident in Sri Lankan waters, which resulted in one fatality and the disappearance of another individual. The incident involved an Indian fishing vessel, which reportedly encountered an accident while operating in Sri Lankan waters.
Indian media sources indicate that the Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India has been summoned by the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address the issue. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a strong statement condemning the incident, emphasizing the need for humane treatment in all matters concerning Indian fishermen.
The Indian government has underscored its commitment to the safety and security of its fishermen and has called for both nations to work collaboratively to prevent such incidents in the future. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs also noted that the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka will meet with Sri Lankan government representatives to discuss the situation in detail and seek a resolution.
