The “Samagi Jana Sandanaya” (SJS), a broad political alliance spearheaded by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), was officially launched today. The unveiling took place at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo, marking a significant moment for the coalition.
The SJS has been formed through agreements between several political entities, including the SJB, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (Dayasiri faction), Mano Ganesan’s Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA), the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC), “Nidahasa Janatha Sabhawa”, and Arjuna Ranatunga’s “Purawesi Handa”. This diverse coalition is geared towards supporting Sajith Premadasa, the SJB leader and presidential candidate, in the forthcoming Presidential Election.
The ceremony also included the announcement of the SJS’s policies and the formal presentation of Sajith Premadasa as the alliance’s presidential candidate. The formation of the SJS represents a strategic effort by the SJB to consolidate political support and present a united front in the election.
