On August 7, President Ranil Wickremasinghe presided over the handover of $590,000 from the Children’s Fund in Gaza to the Palestinian government. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Office.
The official transfer was conducted by Palestinian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Dr. Zuhair M.H. Said, and representatives from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). They presented the documents to Mr. and Mrs. Azusa Kubota, Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
The donation aims to address the basic needs of children displaced by the ongoing military conflict in the Gaza Strip.
