Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Sabry, has engaged with Egypt’s business community to explore opportunities for expanding trade and investment between the two nations. During his official visit to Egypt from August 7 to 9, 2024, Sabry discussed potential collaborations in sectors such as agriculture, apparel, ICT, renewable energy, and tourism.
The discussions took place at an event organized by the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, in coordination with the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC). Attendees included the President of FEDCOC, the Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, and high-level representatives from the Cairo Chamber.
In a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Sabry highlighted the Cairo Chamber of Commerce’s significant role as Egypt’s largest chamber, with over 600,000 members. He extended a warm invitation to the Egyptian business community to explore Sri Lanka’s trade and investment opportunities for mutual growth and prosperity.
Sabry expressed confidence that increased bilateral trade and stronger economic relations would result from future collaborations. The visit was initiated at the invitation of Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.
