SAN FRANCISCO (August 10, 2024) — Susan Wojcicki, the former CEO of YouTube and one of Google’s earliest employees, has passed away at the age of 56 after a two-year battle with non-small cell lung cancer. The news was confirmed by Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai on the social media platform X.
Pichai expressed his deep sorrow, calling Wojcicki “core to the history of Google” and lamenting the impact of her loss. Wojcicki, a significant figure in tech, served as YouTube’s CEO for nine years before stepping down in 2023.
Her husband, Dennis Troper, shared the news on Facebook, describing Wojcicki as a beloved wife and mother to their five children. Her passing marks the end of a distinguished career that greatly influenced the digital landscape.
