An official from the airport air traffic control center has noted that there’s been no noticeable increase in flight arrivals to Sri Lanka as the September 21 presidential election approaches. Despite the political fervor, it seems the diaspora isn’t rushing back to cast their votes, as airlines haven’t reported any plans for extra flights.
The official added that airports are bracing for a routine level of traffic, similar to last year’s numbers during this period. It appears the allure of election day isn’t drawing the expected crowds back home.
