The new stock of passports that have been ordered for Sri Lankan nationals do have some noticable changes.
Three colours blue for regular citizens, red for officials and orange for diplomats.
The old series begining with the letter ‘N’ is now changed to the letter ‘P’.
Also the passport pages have been designed to display pictures promoting tourism.
However one very noticable change done is that the number of pages has been reduced from 64 to 48 pages.
Minister Vijitha Herath stated that the passport shortage issue will be sorted shortly with the issuance of the new passaport set to begin in a week’s time.
