A tragic incident in China’s Guangdong province has left at least 35 people dead and several others injured after a 62-year-old man, identified as Fan, drove his vehicle recklessly into a group of people exercising outside a sports center in Shuhai. Authorities report that the suspect, who had been upset over a recent divorce and property settlement, drove at high speed, deliberately targeting individuals in a violent outburst. Many of the victims were elderly and engaged in physical activity at the time of the attack.
Chinese media reports indicate that the victims’ bodies were found scattered across the site, with some falling to the ground as a result of the impact. The suspect, who attempted to flee the scene, was apprehended by the police. However, he is currently in a coma due to injuries sustained during the incident.
The motives behind the attack appear to stem from anger and frustration related to his divorce, and police suggest that this may have led to the violent act. Among the injured, some are children and young adults, adding to the heartbreak of the tragedy.
