Former Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP, Thushara Indunil Amarasena, has openly stated that if he is not granted a national list seat in the upcoming parliamentary allocations, he will leave politics for good.
Speaking to the media after meeting Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, Indunil explained that he had formally requested a national list seat, citing his position as one of the top ten candidates in terms of preferential votes in his party. He emphasized his commitment to both his constituency in the Kurunegala district and to the values of justice.
While he made it clear that he has no intention of leaving the party voluntarily, Indunil passionately declared that if his request is not fulfilled, he would step away from politics permanently, stating, “If I do leave, I will leave with my life.”
Indunil’s dramatic declaration highlights the internal struggles within political parties as they prepare for future parliamentary allocations, with some members seeking recognition for their electoral performance.
