Three individuals, including an assistant housekeeper from the Parliamentary Housekeeping Department, have been suspended following allegations of sexual harassment involving young female staff members working in Parliament.
The decision was based on the recommendations of a committee chaired by a retired High Court judge, which was appointed to investigate the incident after the allegations surfaced in August 2023. The committee interviewed 15 employees from the Housekeeping Department as part of its inquiry.
In addition to this, a separate investigation is underway within Parliament’s Information Systems and Management Department concerning further allegations of harassment involving female employees.
These developments have sparked discussions about workplace safety and the need for stricter measures to protect employees within Parliament.
