President Anura Kumara Dissanayake expressed gratitude to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe for choosing to reside in his own house after leaving office, rather than utilizing a government-provided official residence.
Speaking during the “Sirasa TV Satana” program, President Anura highlighted that currently, only three former presidents—Mahinda Rajapaksa, Chandrika Kumaratunga, and Maithripala Sirisena—are still using government-provided official residences.
He further noted that former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Hema Premadasa have returned their official residences to the government, in line with protocol.
The President commended Wickremesinghe’s decision as an example of personal responsibility and frugality in public service, setting a positive precedent for future leaders.
