The Ratnapura Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of a police constable until the 25th for allegedly sexually assaulting two young women after giving them alcohol and taking compromising photos to threaten them.
The suspect, who was previously attached to the Thalangama Police, was arrested following investigations by the Nivithigala Police. The case was initiated based on a complaint filed by a 20-year-old woman from Udakarawita, Nivithigala, who, along with her brother’s fiancée, was subjected to the assault.
Authorities have also arrested two other suspects in connection with the incident. All three have been produced before the court as investigations continue.
