Minister Nalinda Jayatissa has alleged that certain groups are attempting to orchestrate subversive conspiracies to overthrow the government. Speaking at a public meeting, the minister said these plots are being hatched by inciting public unrest, especially as the government moves to cut unnecessary privileges and crack down on theft and corruption.
He stressed that such attempts will not be allowed to succeed, adding that the administration remains committed to its reform agenda despite resistance from those who stand to lose from the ongoing anti-corruption measures.
The minister claimed that the conspiracy involves efforts to turn public opinion against the government by exploiting dissatisfaction arising from the removal of perks and the exposure of financial misconduct.
