Eighteen-year-old Yevan David has shattered a major barrier for Sri Lankan motorsport, becoming the nation’s first-ever competitor in the prestigious FIA Formula 3 Championship after signing with AIX Racing for the 2026 season.
Eighteen-year-old Yevan David has etched his name into Sri Lanka’s motorsport history books by becoming the first driver from the island nation to compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship.
David has officially signed with AIX Racing for the 2026 season, marking a landmark moment for Sri Lanka on the international racing stage. The young talent is currently a front-runner in the Euroformula Open Championship, where he has delivered a standout season with four victories, five additional podium finishes, and a pole position while driving for the dominant Motopark team.
His rise in single-seater racing has been rapid. After an impressive debut in the final round of the 2024 Euroformula season where he secured two wins and a third-place finish, David’s momentum has only grown.
Before stepping into Euroformula, the Colombo-born racer sharpened his skills in the Eurocup-3, Spanish F4, and UAE F4 Championships in 2024, his first full season after making the jump from a successful karting career.
“I’m proud to be the first driver from Sri Lanka to compete in FIA Formula 3 and grateful for this opportunity,” David said after his signing with AIX Racing, adding that he hopes to inspire the next generation of Sri Lankan racers.
