Anura Outlines Peacekeeping Strategy Post-Election – (Video)

Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the presidential candidate for the National People’s Power (NPP), has unveiled his strategy for maintaining peace in Sri Lankan villages following the presidential election. Speaking at a General Assembly in Galgamuwa on August 20, 2024, Dissanayake outlined how the divisional councils established by his party for the election will play a key role in this effort.

Dissanayake emphasized that these councils, created as part of the NPP’s election campaign infrastructure, will be instrumental in ensuring community stability and addressing local issues after the election. His plan includes utilizing these grassroots structures to foster dialogue and cooperation among residents, thereby contributing to a peaceful transition regardless of the election outcome.

The announcement was made during a “Rata Anurata” public rally in Galgamuwa, part of a series of nationwide events aimed at solidifying support for Dissanayake. The rally, themed “A Rich Country, A Beautiful Life,” was held to reinforce his vision of economic and social prosperity for Sri Lanka.

Dissanayake’s approach focuses on leveraging the existing framework of divisional councils to mediate and resolve conflicts at the local level. This initiative is intended to build a sense of community and mutual understanding, which he believes is essential for maintaining harmony across the country.
