Sarvajana candidate Dilith Jayaweera has issued a challenge to other presidential contenders, urging them to commit to a plan for assigning a unique digital number to every citizen. Speaking at the Dilit village rally in Yatianthota on September 17, Jayaweera highlighted this initiative as part of his strategic program aimed at modernizing and equalizing citizen identification in Sri Lanka.
Jayaweera emphasized the significance of this digital number, which he believes will promote equality among citizens. “Through our strategic program, we have outlined how this digital system will change lives and how we will secure the necessary funds for this transformation,” he said. He further challenged his rivals to pledge the implementation of this digital identification system, questioning them on the feasibility and management of such a scheme.
In addition to his public rally, Jayaweera also presided over the Sarvajana Balaya women’s organization ‘Liyabala’ meeting in Kandy, showcasing his commitment to engaging with various community groups. His call for digital reform comes amid growing scrutiny of candidates’ promises and their plans for the future of Sri Lanka.
