The Election Commission has approved international observers to oversee the 2024 Presidential Election in Sri Lanka. Chairman R.M.A.L. Ratnayake announced that election monitoring teams from the European Union (EU) and the Commonwealth will be permitted to observe the election process. This approval follows requests from these international organizations.
The observation teams are expected to arrive on the island in the coming days to ensure a transparent and fair electoral process.
In related news, Minister of State for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has assured that the funds allocated for the upcoming presidential election are adequate. He emphasized that even if the number of candidates increases, the financial resources allocated will be sufficient to manage the election effectively.
