PSL 2024 (Game 15) – Karachi Kings vs Islamabad United
Colin Munro’s explosive 82 off just 47 balls propelled Islamabad United to a commanding seven-wicket victory over Karachi Kings in the PSL. Munro’s slaughter, supported by Alex Hales’ steady 47, guided United to a successful chase of 166 runs on a slow pitch, snapping their three-match losing streak and marking their second win of the season.
The game started on a high note for Islamabad United, as they dominated proceedings from the outset. Despite a valiant effort from Karachi Kings, who managed to post a competitive total of 165 runs for the loss of five wickets, their bowlers struggled to contain the formidable batting lineup of Islamabad United. Kieron Pollard’s unbeaten 48 and Irfan Khan’s quickfire 27 provided some late impetus to the Kings’ innings, but it wasn’t enough to deter the relentless assault from United’s openers.
Munro’s scintillating knock, coupled with Hales’ aggressive batting, laid the foundation for Islamabad United’s successful chase. Their explosive 108-run partnership broke the back of the chase, leaving Karachi Kings grasping for answers. Despite a brief flurry of wickets towards the end, skipper Shadab Khan and Agha Salman ensured a smooth sail to victory, guiding United to their target with ease.
While Karachi Kings’ bowlers toiled hard, only Mohammad Nawaz managed to make a significant impact, returning with figures of 1 for 23. Tabraiz Shamsi and Hasan Ali faced the brunt of United’s onslaught, conceding runs at an alarming rate. Mir Hamza’s expensive spell further compounded the Kings’ woes, as Islamabad United cruised to victory with 1.3 overs to spare.
