BUTLER, Pennsylvania – July 24, 2024 – Bodycam footage from law enforcement shows the aftermath of a shooting incident involving former President Donald Trump, capturing the confusion among officials as they discovered the body of the shooter on a rooftop.
Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, posted the three-minute video on social media, revealing authorities on the roof of a building where Thomas Matthew Crooks was shot dead by snipers after opening fire on Trump.
“Beaver County snipers saw him, sent the pictures out. This is him,” someone off-camera is heard saying as Crooks’ body is shown next to a trail of blood and a rifle.
“Rifle’s right there,” a law enforcement officer points out. The footage, obtained from the Beaver County Emergency Services Unit has blurred the image of the body.
A Secret Service agent is seen discussing a bike found nearby, questioning if it belonged to the shooter.
“Was he on that bike?” someone asks.
“We don’t know,” comes the reply.
“Our guy up here told me there was a guy detained who owns the bike,” says the Secret Service agent, pointing at Crooks.
A local officer mentions that a sniper saw someone on the bike who set down a bag before losing sight of him. They also discuss two other detainees.
“Detain those guys. Find out who they know. Who they are. Whatever,” the Secret Service agent directs. “I’m trying to get clear information to relay back to D.C.”
