- Ousted Minister claims President Wickremesinghe as a vicious serpent
- MP Harin Fernando appointed as new Minister of Sports
Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe branded the country he tried his level best to free from corruption as the ‘Paradise of Asia’ turned the ‘Paradise of Thieves’ following his sacking by President Ranil Wickremasinghe.
Ranasinghe’s ouster came just hours after he referred to President Ranil Wickremasinghe as a viciously hidden snake who could strike death at any time.
“I was told that Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa had confided in a person named Charith that Ranil Wickremasinghe is a deadly snake that I should guard against.
“If I should lose my life then two people, President Ranil Ranasinghe and Sagala Ratnayake should be held responsible,” Ranasinghe told a stunned Parliament.
Sagala Ratnayake is President Ranil Wickremasinghe’s Advisor.
Unable to believe his ears that what he is reported to have said outside Parliament had been disclosed, MP Namal Rajapaksa denied making the remark.
The ousted Sports Minister Ranasinghe said his fight to rid cricket and the country at large of corruption and financial robberies will continue.
“My campaign against corruption and financial malpractices will continue even at a higher level,” Ranasinghe told journalists.
