  1. The Old Boys’ Association (OBA) of St. Xavier’s College has demonstrated remarkable commitment and dedication to revitalizing the institution, especially under the new Principal appointed in October 2023. Their efforts stand out notably for several reasons:

Community and Affection: The OBA members, many of whom have children studying outside Nuwara Eliya, have shown an extraordinary level of dedication purely driven by their affection for the College and loyalty to its legacy. This selfless approach is relatively unique compared to other Old Boys’ Associations in Sri Lanka.

Diverse Initiatives: The OBA has spearheaded a wide range of initiatives to benefit the College and its students. Their projects include:

Leadership and Administration: Accelerating the appointment of a new Principal to steer the College’s future.
Campus Improvements: Conducting a shramada (volunteer) campaign with the Sinha Regiment of the Sri Lankan Army, renovating buildings, and planting trees.
Educational Support: Donating computers, awarding scholarships, assisting with educational and extracurricular activities, and setting up an Artificial Intelligence Society.
Sports and Events: Organizing and sponsoring various cricket matches, including the Old Xaverians Cricket Tournament and Baker’s Cup Cricket Match, Battle of the Oldies Cricket Encounter for the Mayor’s Cup, as well as supporting football and athletics teams.
Cultural and Historical Contributions: Organizing events like the Vespers of Patron Saint Xavier, publishing a book on the College’s history, and introducing a distinctive OBA necktie, assisting the Saraswathi pooya; assisting the sick and the underprivileged and providing help during funerals and difficulties.
Future Plans: The OBA has several upcoming projects that aim to further enhance the College’s facilities and programs. These include:

Renovating the 100-year-old Lower School Building, Staff Room, and Vice Principal’s Room.
    Upgrading the College’s Western Band.
    Recommencing Basketball and Wrestling programs.
    Implementing English language teaching programs.
Expanding educational activities for O/L and A/L students. Art exhibitions and workshops,Carol programme.
Overall, the proactive and multifaceted approach of St. Xavier’s OBA highlights their significant role in the revival and development of the College, ensuring its continued growth and success for future generations. We would request Sponsors and whose who are willing to help with the revival process of this College to contact the OBA Secretaries for further information.Thank you.
