The Royal College Rugby Head Coach, Dushanth Lewke instituted a lawsuit today (23/10/2024) in the District Court of Colombo, against Wijaya Newspapers Limited the publisher of The Daily Financial Times. The former Sri Lanka Rugby captain, Dushanth Lewke, is seeking damages in a total sum of LKR 300,000,000/-, from Wijaya Newspapers Limited, because of defamatory articles published in The Daily Financial Times.
Furthermore, the District Judge of Colombo, Hon. Sadun Withana, issued an Enjoining Order preventing Wijaya Newspapers Limited from reporting, and / or publishing and / or continue to publish any matter in respect of Dushanth Lewke’s Rugby coaching career at Royal College, Colombo, which Wijaya Newspapers Limited knows, or has reason to believe to be false and / or inaccurate or distorting the truth by any act of commission or willful omission, until the conclusion of the interim injunction inquiry.
