Ratnapura (September 17, 2024) — Presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) declared that he would not make promises he cannot keep, in a public rally in Ratnapura yesterday. Speaking to the crowd, Rajapaksa emphasized his commitment to delivering practical, achievable goals to the people, distancing himself from what he described as “fairy tale” promises made by others.
“Some are claiming they’ll reduce various things, but the people are familiar with political promises. They’ve heard these stories before,” Rajapaksa said. “This is not an election for a political clown. Our manifesto only contains what is genuinely possible to accomplish.”
Rajapaksa further stated that his campaign presents a revolutionary program aimed at advancing the nation, regardless of which government is in power. He reiterated this message during another event in the Kolonnawa Constituency, where he addressed party members and supporters, outlining a vision to propel Sri Lanka forward with actionable and realistic policies.
