- 145th Battle of the Blues (Tea Day 1) – Live from Brumbies Tent
S.Thomas College Mount Lavinia were comfortably placed at 177 for 2 at tea one day one at the 145th Battle of the Blues at the SSC Grounds.
Dineth Gunawardena the Thomian number 3 batter who has dropped anchor is currently batting on 41 not out made off 107 balls, whilst his skipper Mahith Perera who came up the order remained unbeaten on 22.
The duo has so far put on 55 runs for the 3rd wicket after Royal College managed to dismiss the Thomian opener Sudev Soyza who scored 83 runs. Soyza who was dropped twice and also survived a stumping was finally out when he mistimed a lofted hit on the on side off the Royal skipper Jayawardena and was pocketed by Peiris at mid-on.
That was the only glimmer of hope Royal had as they managed to scalp just two Thomian wickets so far one on either side of lunch. Royal nevertheless did manage to prevent the Thomians from scoring much further by giving away only 76 runs in this second session off 29 overs.
As always, the Brumbies Tent is buzzing with excitement as the big match revelers at this enclosure continue to have a blast.
