(COLOMBO) – Three persons including a 61-year-old mason were arrested in connection with an alleged gang rape of 12-year-old girl in Padukka Sri Lanka, Police said on Friday.
Padukka is located on the southern suburbs of the commercial capital of Colombo.
Initial findings by police have revealed that the minor had allegedly been raped by the suspects since December last year.
Meanwhile police in the island-nation’s northern town of Talaimannar were hunting for those responsible for the rape and murder of a 10-year-old girl who had been reported missing since Thursday.
The half naked body of the girl was subsequently recovered from a location some 300 metres away from her house.
The child’s grandmother had filed a missing person’s complaint with the local police on Thursday.
Police said investigations are focused on a suspicious person residing in the area, but were yet to make any arrest.
