Samagi Jana Balavega (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa has reportedly amassed over 7 million votes in his presidential bid, according to party MP S.M. Marikkar. Speaking with evident enthusiasm, Marikkar suggested that Premadasa’s growing support is reaching unprecedented levels, making it “impossible to imagine” just how many votes the SJB leader will ultimately secure.
Marikkar highlighted that Premadasa’s appeal is not limited to one region but spans across Sri Lanka, from the northern provinces to the southern, as well as the central and eastern mountains. This widespread support, according to him, is a clear indicator of Premadasa’s rising popularity and a potential game-changer in the upcoming election.
In a sharp jab at the competition, Marikkar urged voters who were initially inclined to support President Ranil Wickramasinghe to reconsider and cast their vote for Premadasa instead. He emphasized that Premadasa is the candidate who has captured the hearts of the masses and is best positioned to lead the country.
Marikkar made these remarks during a media briefing following a public rally in the Kolonnawa area, where the turnout and enthusiasm further bolstered his confidence in Premadasa’s electoral prospects. The MP’s comments reflect the SJB’s growing optimism as they see Premadasa’s vote count rising, fueling speculation on whether his momentum will continue to surge in the final weeks leading up to the election.
