Former Minister of State Diana Gamage has voiced her concerns regarding the dilapidated condition of the vehicle provided to her by the President’s Office during her tenure. Gamage, who served as the Minister of State for Tourism, described the vehicle as problematic, noting that it often broke down and even leaked oil onto the roads.
In her remarks, Gamage detailed her frustrations with the interference she faced during her time in office, specifically mentioning issues with the vehicles assigned to her. She pointed out that some of the vehicles not only malfunctioned frequently but also had their Kiringa system disabled.
Additionally, Gamage accused officials of misconduct, claiming that after receiving the vehicles, they were often parked in garages while officials profited from fraudulent repair bills. She alleged that she has evidence showing instances where a bill of ten lakhs was issued for repairs that should have only cost ten thousand rupees.
Despite her grievances, Gamage clarified that she did not serve as a presidential adviser. She emphasized that the vehicle in question was provided by the President’s Office because the Ministry had failed to supply her with transportation during her role as Minister of State.
