The Director of the Meteorological Department’s Forecasting Division, Mr. Ajith Wijemanna, has stated that a low-pressure zone is likely to form in the south-western Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours. This weather system has the potential to develop into a depression.
While there is no direct impact anticipated on Sri Lanka, the indirect effects of this system may bring rain or thundershowers to many parts of the island starting tomorrow (13th). Heavy rainfall is expected in some areas, particularly in the North, North Central, and Eastern provinces.
The Meteorological Department has advised the public to remain alert for possible heavy rains and thunderstorms in these regions.
