Colombo, Sri Lanka – Former Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva is facing serious allegations of amassing illegal assets, following a complaint filed with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
The complaint was submitted by the Citizens’ Power Against Bribery, Corruption, and Waste, a civic organization dedicated to promoting transparency and accountability in public office. The group has requested a comprehensive investigation into the former minister’s wealth, claiming that he accumulated significant assets through illicit means during his tenure in office.
According to the complaint, de Silva allegedly acquired substantial wealth under the names of his wife, a girlfriend, and close associates to conceal the illegal origins of the assets. The organization has urged the Commission to conduct a thorough investigation to uncover the full extent of these alleged transactions and hold those responsible accountable.
The allegations have sparked public interest, with calls for greater scrutiny of politicians and their financial dealings. As the investigation unfolds, it is expected to add pressure on the government to strengthen anti-corruption measures and ensure transparency in the conduct of public officials.
