
Colombo, Sri Lanka – The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has informed the court that it is actively investigating the arrest of former Minister Prasanna Ranaweera, a former Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha member, a businessman, and a lawyer in connection with a land fraud case.
The case involves allegations that fake deeds were prepared and sold for a government-owned land in Kiribathgoda in 2010.
As part of the ongoing investigation, former Minister Mervyn Silva, a former vice-chairman of the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha, and three others who were previously arrested have been remanded until March 17.
The CID is continuing its probe into the matter, with further legal action expected against those involved in the land fraud scheme.
