
Colombo, Sri Lanka – International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has congratulated President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Sri Lanka’s remarkable progress in economic recovery.
Georgieva shared this statement on her official ‘X’ account, following a virtual meeting with President Dissanayake. She emphasized the importance of attracting investment and improving living standards, highlighting Sri Lanka’s efforts to stabilize its economy.
During the discussion, the IMF chief also stressed the need for continued structural reforms, ensuring long-term financial stability under the IMF’s guidance.
Georgieva’s remarks come amid Sri Lanka’s ongoing economic recovery efforts, following a series of policy adjustments and financial restructuring programs implemented as part of its IMF-backed bailout package.
