Minister of Justice Harshana Nanayakkara says that while the public expects swift action in catching thieves, it’s not something that can be done within six months.
He claimed that because the government is not moving at the pace people expect, anti-government forces are instilling fear among the public.
“The people expect to see some kind of dramatic action every month. But when that doesn’t happen, they begin to think it never will,” the Minister said.
Minister Nanayakkara emphasized that not everything can be accomplished in a short span of time and reminded that the government has a full five-year term.
He made these comments while speaking on the Derana 360 program.
