Imagine commentator Ravi Shastri stepping onto the stage with his signature flair, declaring, “Ladies and gentlemen, here’s the secret behind MS Dhoni’s thunderous sixes, five liters of milk a day!” The crowd erupts in laughter and disbelief, as Shastri’s claim becomes the stuff of cricketing legend. This whimsical introduction sets the tone for a tale that blends myth, humor, and the undeniable charisma of Dhoni himself.
For years, cricket fans have speculated about the peculiar habits behind MS Dhoni’s incredible success on the field. Among the most bizarre claims was that the former Indian captain drank an astounding five litres of milk every day. However, Dhoni recently set the record straight during an IPL 2025 Chennai Super Kings (CSK) event.
When asked about the wildest rumor he’d ever heard about himself, Dhoni revealed: “It’s the one where they say I drink five litres of milk daily.” The cricketer laughed at the absurdity of the claim, adding, “I used to drink maybe a litre of milk, spread out over the day, but four litres, let alone five is a stretch for anyone.”
The conversation took an amusing turn when Dhoni was also asked if he churned his lassi (a popular Indian yogurt-based drink) using a washing machine. His response? “First of all, I don’t drink lassi,” delivered with a hearty laugh.
Interestingly, this milk-related rumor traces back to a statement made by cricket commentator Ravi Shastri in 2005, following Dhoni’s breakout innings of 148 runs against Pakistan in Visakhapatnam. Dhoni explained, “Ravi Shastri mentioned it at the post-match presentation, but the truth is I only drank around one litre of buffalo milk back then.”
Though milk has been a staple in Dhoni’s diet, he has since adapted his habits, transitioning to milkshakes to ensure he gets his daily quota. While the milk myths continue to amuse his fans, Dhoni’s success clearly stems from talent, discipline, and unmatched dedication rather than excessive dairy consumption.
