Two armed Gunmen brutally opened fire at a crowded bus stop in West Jerusalem, killing three civilians and injuring several others just hours after the Israeli government extended the ceasefire. The shooters were shot dead shortly after the attack began, thanks to two off duty army officials and an armed civilian in the vecinity. The attack also comes just a day after two Palestinian boys were shot dead in an army raid in the city of Jenin in the West Bank.
The shooters were identified as brothers Murad Numr, 38, and Ibrahim Namr, 30, a pair of ex-prisoners affiliated with Hamas on accounts of terror activity, according to the Shin Bet Security Service. Hamas later confirmed that the two shooters were infact members of the terrorist organization.
It’s only been seven days since Israel agreed to pause fighting in the Gaza Strip, brokered by Qatar on the basis of hostage release. The terror attack in Jerusalem came just hours after Israel agreed to extend the ceasefire for an additional 24 hours, agreeing to bringing home 10 hostages inexchage for 30 Israeli prisoners. 12 Israelites and 4 Thai hostages held by Hamas arrived safely in Israel on Wednesday, inexchange for 30 women and children held in Israeli prisons.
Israeli media has gone on to identify the three deceased civilians as Livia Dickman, 24, Rabbi Elimelech Wasserman, 73, and Hana Ifergan, 67. Amongst the three casualties, two more victims remain in critical condition at the Shaare Zedek hospital in Jerusalem, while three more appear to be moderately wounded.
