Opposition Leader in Parliament Sajith Premadasa revealed that Sri Lanka Cricket made a purchase most foul in its procurement of their digital television screens for three international venues in the country.
Premadasa told Parliament on Friday that SLC had under-invoiced for the products, made the payment to the supplier before the Tenders could be opened and rejected one bidder who was not part of their pet bidders for reasons best known to them.
Premadasa charged that SLC had paid their favourite bidder 29,000 US dollars even before the Tender process could commence.
But SLC issuing a media statement said there was no truth in them making payments to the supplier even before the Tender process could begin.
SLC’s media statement said the money was paid only after the digital television screens were delivered and installed at the respective locations and that one of the bidders were shut out due to what it called a “procedural lapse” for failing to submit the appropriate Form of Bid with the authorized signature.
