The Presidential Media Division (PMD) has issued a firm rebuttal against what it describes as an organized smear campaign surrounding the recent government vehicle auction, accusing disgruntled tender losers—particularly those linked to Facebook rental pages of spreading false narratives.
The controversy stems from the second phase of the vehicle tender sale, conducted by the President’s Office on May 15, 2025. The auction was carried out in strict adherence to Asset Management Circular 05/2024 and followed all required open government tender procedures. The invitation for bids had been publicly advertised in newspapers on April 23.
A total of 108 individuals who purchased tender applications submitted their sealed bids by 11:00 AM on May 15. Vehicles were awarded only to the highest bidders whose offers exceeded official government valuations. In total, 17 out of 26 vehicles were sold under this transparent system, while 9 vehicles remained unsold as their bids did not meet the minimum valuation criteria.
However, according to the PMD, an orchestrated attempt is now underway to discredit the process by spreading misinformation through mainstream and social media platforms. These fabrications, they claim, originate from parties with vested interests many of whom benefited under previous administrations by enjoying access to these state-owned luxury vehicles at public expense.
The PMD emphasized that these groups are now reacting with “panic and desperation” after losing their unofficial privileges. In retaliation, they have launched a malicious campaign online, posting fabricated claims and distorted stories intended to cast doubt on the credibility of the sale.
The government has responded swiftly. The PMD confirmed that official complaints have been lodged with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against individuals and pages suspected of publishing or promoting slanderous material. They condemned this misinformation drive as “extremely reprehensible,” and warned that legal action would be taken against those who continue to mislead the public.
As the story unfolds, the Presidential Media Division assures citizens that the government will not allow public resources to be hijacked by deceptive narratives or those attempting to return to the old ways of waste and privilege.
Accordingly, the details of the vehicles sold during the sale of vehicles through the tender method held on 2025-05-15 are as follows.
