Minister of Agriculture K.D. Lal Kantha says he has removed the elevated chair assigned to him as a minister and replaced it with a standard chair to symbolise equality with the public.
Speaking at a recent event, the minister said he brought in a chair of the same height as those placed in front of his desk, deliberately avoiding any physical elevation above the people who meet him.
“This chair isn’t just furniture. It’s a message,” Lal Kantha stated. “The person who sits in front of me is not beneath me. We are equals.”
The symbolic gesture was meant to emphasize his commitment to humility and people-centered governance, a contrast to the traditional formality and hierarchy often associated with political office.
