India tour of South Africa (1st ODI)
India asserted their supremacy in a remarkable fashion, obliterating South Africa by 8 wickets in Johannesburg to seize a 1-0 lead in the series.
The Men in Blue showcased their prowess, dismantling the Proteas’ lineup, restricting them to an abysmal total and effortlessly chasing down the target.
Indian bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan wreaked havoc, dismantling eight out of eleven South African batters within the first 16 overs. Despite a resilient 33 runs from from number 8 batter Andile Phelukwayo, the innings folded at 116 all out by the 27th over.
Debutant opening batsman Sai Sudharsan displayed remarkable composure, guiding India to victory with a composed half-century across 16 overs. Sudharshan found a reliable partner in Shreyas Iyer, who contributed a solid 52 runs at the other end.
