Sri Lankan police have confirmed that the two containers linked to the recent drug discovery in Middeniya are not part of the controversial batch of 323 containers released from customs without inspection.
At a media briefing held today at Police Headquarters, Police Media Spokesperson ASP F.U. Wutler said that a thorough investigation had been carried out into the container numbers. He explained that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) cross-checked the details and confirmed that the two drug-linked containers found in Middeniya do not match the batch of 323 containers that bypassed customs inspection.
ASP Wutler emphasized that the investigation into both incidents will continue independently, with authorities ensuring that no confusion remains regarding the origins and handling of the containers.
The police reassured the public that law enforcement agencies remain vigilant in tracing drug trafficking networks and that any connections to customs irregularities would be thoroughly exposed.
