NPP MP Lal Premanath calls for removal of defeatist singers and lyricists from society, stating their songs drag people into a negative mentality and discourage facing challenges.
National People’s Power Matara District Member of Parliament Lal Premanath recently expressed special views in Parliament regarding the need for an art of music that instills courage in people and enables them to face challenges. The MP emphasized that certain musical creations today are discouraging people.
He pointed out that instead of songs that give strength to face challenges, some creations are being made that drag people into a defeatist mentality to the extent that they even abandon their most valuable possession, life itself. The MP strongly criticized lyricists who write such songs and singers who perform them, stating that such creators should be removed from society.
He further stated that he sees the socialization of such defeatist attitudes as a massive crime. The main focus of the MP’s remarks was that the art of music should be a medium that provides motivation for people to win at life, and the importance of creating such courage-instilling works.
