Iran-US agreement framework outlined by Abbas Araghchi includes asset release, sanctions talks, nuclear issues, and Strait of Hormuz security.
The proposed Iran-US agreement framework has been outlined by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who says the diplomatic effort is aimed at consolidating Iran’s recent battlefield gains.
Araghchi revealed the structure of a proposed understanding agreement expected to be reached between Iran and the United States, stressing that the purpose of the process is to secure the strategic advantage achieved by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Speaking during an interview with a television channel, the Iranian Foreign Minister said Iran had emerged as the sole victor against what he described as unjust aggression recently launched jointly by the United States and Israel.
He further stated that the outcome represented a major strategic victory for Iran.
According to Araghchi, Iran did not allow the aggressors, who came armed with modern weapons, including nuclear capabilities, to achieve their objectives.
He said consolidating such a significant victory through an agreement or understanding was therefore a natural necessity.
The Minister stated that the 14-point understanding agreement currently being discussed in the media is in its final stages.
However, he said official details would be released later, as amendments may still be made before final approval is granted.
Several drafts of the proposed understanding have already been reviewed by Iran’s top decision-making bodies, including the Supreme National Security Council.
The process is expected to take place in two main phases.
The first phase involves reaching a preliminary understanding agreement between Iran and the United States.
The second phase will consist of a 60-day negotiation period aimed at reaching a final and permanent agreement.
Following the signing of the preliminary agreement, Iran’s currently suspended financial assets are expected to be released.
Araghchi said the signing process is expected to take place digitally within the next day or two through digital technology.
Discussions on sensitive nuclear matters, including uranium, as well as the lifting of what Iran describes as illegal United States sanctions, have been postponed to the second phase.
The Minister said Iran maintains a firm position that its high-concentration nuclear materials must be diluted only within Iran itself.
Referring to Lebanon, Araghchi said the country has always remained a strategic priority for Iran.
He declared that Iran’s strong response to Israel’s violation of ceasefire agreements with Lebanon represented another strategic victory.
“Iran is not joking. We are not only unafraid of war if necessary, but we are also prepared to use it anywhere to defend the country,” he warned.
Under the proposed framework, hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, must cease, and no party should use force.
Through this agreement, the United States is expected to officially respect Iran’s sovereignty for the first time in history.
The first clause of the proposed agreement concerns the lifting of what Iran describes as the illegal naval blockade imposed by the United States.
The framework also includes an economic reconstruction plan covering war reparations, which is expected to bring significant financial benefits to Iran’s economy.
If the second-phase negotiations over the 60-day period fail, the entire process will be nullified, and the existing situation will remain unchanged.
Araghchi emphasized that because the United States and other parties have previously broken promises, Iran will rely only on its own strength.
He also identified Israel as the main enemy of the proposed agreement.
A joint legal and operational framework for managing naval traffic in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz is expected to be announced within the next 60 days.
The framework is to be issued jointly by Iran and Oman.
However, Araghchi made clear that security in those waters will continue to remain the responsibility of the Iranian Armed Forces.
