COLOMBO — Nondescripts Cricket Club and Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club booked their places in the semi-finals of the SLC Major Club T20 Tournament 2026 after securing contrasting victories in their latest matches.
While Tamil Union powered to a convincing 41-run win over Panadura Sports Club, NCC were forced to battle until the final over before edging Moors Sports Club by two wickets in a tense finish.
The two victories ensured both clubs advanced to the last four of Sri Lanka’s premier domestic T20 competition.
Sineth Century Powers Tamil Union Past Panadura
Tamil Union produced the more dominant performance of the day, piling up an imposing 220 for five in 20 overs before dismissing Panadura for 179.
The innings belonged to Sineth, who produced a superb century, smashing 101 from just 52 deliveries and providing the foundation for Tamil Union’s huge total.
After Thanuka was dismissed for a duck, Sineth took control of the innings and received strong support from Navod, who struck a rapid 43 from 27 balls.
The late-order acceleration then pushed Tamil Union beyond the 200-run mark.
Sachitha finished unbeaten on 28 from 13 balls, while Lahiru made an unbeaten 16 from only six deliveries, allowing Tamil Union to close on 220 for five.
Panadura’s bowlers found it difficult to contain the scoring throughout the innings. Kalana returned the best figures with two wickets for 30 runs from four overs, while Dilshan and Navindu claimed one wicket each.
Panadura Fight Back but Fall 41 Runs Short
Faced with a daunting target of 221 from 120 balls, Panadura needed a flying start but struggled to build the major partnership required to threaten Tamil Union’s total.
Several batters made useful contributions.
Charya top-scored with 49 from only 25 balls, while Raveen struck 39 from 21, Oshada made 34 from 24, and Dilshan contributed 31 from 22 deliveries.
However, Tamil Union continued to take wickets at crucial stages.
The bowling combination of Viyas and Navod proved decisive, with both claiming four wickets.
Viyas finished with 4 for 33 from four overs, while Navod collected 4 for 41, leaving Panadura all out for 179 after their full allocation of 20 overs.
Tamil Union therefore completed a commanding 41-run victory and secured their passage into the semi-finals.

He struck a match-defining 85 from 48 deliveries, keeping NCC firmly in the chase despite wickets falling around him.
Kavin contributed 16, before the middle order came under pressure.
The contest tightened considerably when Jeewaka departed and NCC continued to lose wickets, but Dineth’s explosive 31 from only 16 balls kept the chase alive.
With the match entering its final stages, NCC still needed calmness from the lower order.
Chamika K remained unbeaten on 18 from 13 balls, helping NCC reach 178 for eight in 19.4 overs and complete the chase with just two deliveries remaining.
Moors had pushed NCC to the brink, but the experienced Colombo club held its nerve to seal a dramatic two-wicket victory.

Two Very Different Wins, Same Destination
Tamil Union reached the semi-finals through batting dominance and disciplined bowling, while NCC were forced to survive a genuine last-over examination.
For Tamil Union, Sineth’s century was the standout performance as they overwhelmed Panadura. For NCC, Jeewaka’s 85 proved decisive in a chase that remained alive until the closing moments.
With both sides now through, the SLC Major Club T20 Tournament 2026 semi-final stage is set to feature two of Sri Lankan domestic cricket’s most established clubs as the battle for the title intensifies.
