(COLOMBO) – A Sri Lankan businessman who allegedly assaulted the Iranian Ambassador Dr. Alireza Delkhosh following a road rage altercation was on Wednesday released on bail some four days after the incident.
The 33-year-old businessman who was not named was arrested after he allegedly assaulted the Envoy outside a shopping mall in the commercial capital of Colombo and later attempted to getaway in his car.
The incident sparked off following a parking space argument between the two and the suspect had later attempted to drive off but was blocked in his attempt by the Iranian Envoy.
The police later arrived on to the scene and the businessman was promptly arrested and subsequently remanded.
He was ordered released on bail after being produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadeera on Wednesday.
