The Dhammarathana Thero of Mihintala Rajamaha Viharaya, who apparently prefers lakeside retreats, has declared that Sri Lanka needs a leader who actually listens – and who better than Sajith Premadasa, leader of the Samagi Jana Balavega?
In a rather poetic twist, the Thero suggested that once Sajith claims the presidential chair, he should take his oath under a mango tree in Mihintala. Why? Because, according to the Thero, Sri Lanka’s first diplomatic meeting also happened under a mango tree, making it the perfect spot for this historic swearing-in ceremony.
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa heard all this when he paid a visit to the Mihintala Rajamaha Temple – perhaps already picturing himself under that very mango tree.
